Making Your Bed When You Leave?

I have a question for you? When you stay at someone’s house overnight, do you strip the bed before you leave? Or do you make the bed? This has been a problem of mine for a long time. Who would make a bed without asking if you should? What do you think your hosts will do with your sheets when you leave? Do you think they will keep them on the bed for their next guest? Guess what? They want to wash the sheets.

I asked this question on one of my Facebook groups and I was so surprised to hear why people prefer the bed to be made. Some people said they have a cat, so they don’t want their cat ruining the mattresses and therefore prefer the sheets on right before their next guests come. Some also don’t want the sheets stripped because they don’t want them added to their already large pile of laundry. Another woman also said how she doesn’t like how the sheets end up in a ball that she later has to separate to put into the wash. She would rather do it herself.

I recently had guests over and they made their beds. I was shocked. I told them during the day that right when they leave I will need to strip their beds because I had more company coming. To my surprise, their beds were so nicely made. You’ve never seen someone more shocked than I was in that moment. Did they actually think I wanted the beds made? Well anyway, I have been to friends homes that ask me to make the beds instead of stripping them.

If you’re wondering, the correct way to deal with this as a guest is to ask the host if they want you to strip the beds or make them. It will probably take you less effort to strip a bed than to make it. In fact, I know it will! Don’t assume you know what your host wants. At my home though, I will always tell you to strip the beds. I don’t have any pets, a cleaning lady, or an overwhelming large pile of laundry. So what if I did? I don’t care about adding some sheets to the pile. I only have so many extra sheets. I can’t wait till my next guests come to throw those in the wash. I want them washed as soon as possible.

This whole concept really frustrates me, because there is less of a chance that your hosts will want you to make the bed. Most of the responses I got to my question were people agreeing to how crazy the concept is. I honestly don’t even know where the concept of making a bed when leaving your host’s home started? Why did it become the polite thing to do. Thank you for giving me more work. I am so excited to unmake this already made bed. I really appreciate it. The craziest response I got was from someone who said they make the bed when they check out of a hotel. What kind of crazy people are living in this world?

Radiohead’s OK Computer is still of of the scariest albums I have ever heard. Its creepy factor is high. At the time that record came out, I was heavily into Marilyn Manson’s Antichrist Superstar, and I kid you not – both albums scared me, in very different ways.

Manson’s industrial rockstar shrieks and blood-curdling imagery was vivid, and it inspired me in ways I didn’t knew I liked. It was a revelation. OKC, on the other hand, scared me in a much more tangible way. I mean, Manson and his band are great at conjuring up everyday realities and disturbing thoughts. But the boys from Oxford did it with a more subtle approach. The song that scares me the most on that album is Fitter Happier, which is a poem accompanied by frontman Thom Yorke’s drunken piano playing. The text is spoken by a robot-like entity, and the voice was in fact generated by the Macintosh’s SimpleText application, Mac Fred. This is the song that scared me the most, because it is so human, so fragile, and juxtaposed with that cold, metallic voice – it produces something which caused my blood to run cold.

In the background of the track, the words “this is the panic office. Section 917 may have been hit” ”Activate following procedure” can be heard in a loop. The words are taken from the film Three Days of the Condor, a 1975 spy movie starring Robert Redford.

It creeped me out. The reason why this album is still one of the scariest things in my small collection is that it is still so very real. This album is not just a piece of music. It was and is a warning, in a way. And it came before so many things like tablets, smartphones, and high-speed internet. The way that Yorke writes his depression down on paper is very visceral, and combined with the effects, the atmosphere of the record – it is sometimes just too much to handle. By the time the closing track, The Tourist, is played, you have been through such a journey. It affects me the way Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon affected me when I first heard it. It makes you stop and ask questions. And I am not even talking about questions relating to the genius of the music and the musicians, but about questions pertaining to oneself and one’s place in the world.

Milly was the nicest girl I knew but she was a bit of a dare devil. I was a tiny bit jealous of her
ability to just go for it without fear and when I mean without fear, I mean without fear! She
could jump out of a plane (sky diving obviously) at the drop of a hat and bungee jump to decide
to cross the desert alone. She was known for total radical behavior that we all admired about
her. She asked me to back-pack with her around Australia and I thought she must be joking. I
said I would think about it but she didn’t take no for an answer.
Before I knew it I was all set to travel with her around Oz. Passport in hand, back-pack on my
shoulders, I was all set. We planned to go from Sydney to Perth. We were planning on buying a
car in Sydney and that’s exactly what we did do. We bought the cheapest banger we could find
that worked and basically that became our home for the next six months. We sold it after six
months because we decided we wanted to rough it the rest of the time, hitch-hiking etc. That
girl most certainly sharpened me up along the way! I remember we once had an argument
because she threw my empty Tea Tree oil Shampoo by Maple Holistics bottle out of the window and I was not a fan
of littering. An avid Vegetarian / environmentalist, she would always tell me to lighten up and I
would teach her about consequences. In a way we were a good fit! We spent quite a lot of time
in Byron Bay where Milly liked to Surf. I was a lie on a beach with a good book kind of girl while
she did the wild stuff!

One day I was lying on the beach whilst Milly was riding the waves and this old hippy came up to
me and said he could read eyes. I asked what he meant by reading eyes and he said he could tell
how good my health was and what my future looked like by looking into my eyes. I said alright
then, go for it. Turns out he was bleaming right ey! He said I had a current problem with my
right ear which I didn’t but the next day I started to feel a pain in it and it turns out I had an
infection in it. He told me that I had suffered with stomach problems as a kid and was prone to
headaches which was all true. He also told me that I would be soon meeting a guy and that me
and my friend would go separate ways. Well he wasn’t right on that one, I did meet a guy but he
joined us and I didn’t part ways with Millhouse, that’s what I used to call her! Probably because I
watched way to much Simpson’s growing up even though Milly was nothing like Millhouse from
the Simpsons.

Anyway he proceeded to tell me a few more things which have actually since come true, like
having Twins and moving back to Australia! Funny how these things work out huh!

The NRA And Guns

Much like anything in life, we humans are prone to making mistakes. It’s a common part of life that enables us to grow, learn and improve ourselves. While it may be true that mistakes are bound to happen at some point and that they should be viewed as learning curves rather than treated as a punishable act (of course, that depends on the mistake at hand), there is only so much room for error when it comes to gun ownership. The reality of guns are that they are basically death in mechanical form and when misused, can lead to serious ramifications such as  lawsuits, new bedding, linen or sheets and possibly even death.

So making a mistake once and learning from it i.e. never doing it again, is a sign that you might be a responsible gun owner, a decent citizen, a God-fearing man or woman and relatively smart. However, repeating the same mistakes are signs that you are not fit to carry a firearm and in the South, that basically means you’re a non-entity, an invalid or a cretin. Harsh as that may sound, these are the proud traditions of our slightly inbred people and they are to be upheld at all costs because they are sacred to us. It is written in Mark Chapter 2:5 that ‘He who commands a weapon, commands his destiny – and deserves better parking on weekends.’ It is not my bidding but that of our cosmic Landlord and Saviour Jesus. H. Christ and his ways are indeed greater than us. Gunivore is the only place you need to go to learn anything about guns with their amazing articles and reviews.

That being said, here are a few of the more common issues to look out for when it comes to owning, using, firing and naming a gun. It’s important to treat your weapon like your direct descendant, or a college league footballing son – with love, kindness, respect and smack on the head every now and then. It’s your duty as an American and if you’re part of the NRA and don’t recognize this, then don’t even make eye-contact with me at our next seminar, unless you brought parfet.

It’s a fact that every holiday season, Americans bought more guns than the previous holiday season. The FBI says they processed a record number of background checks on Black Friday (about 2 per second!), so it’s safe to say that some of you got a gun for Christmas. It’s also likely that some of you are brand new gun owners. Welcome to the club!

But before you run outside and start shooting your new gun like Ralphie on Christmas morning, there’s a few things you should know. First of all, I highly recommend you get some professional training. The NRA has nearly 100,000 instructors around the country. Use this form to choose a course and find a local instructor.

This is for your safety, the safety of others, and the reputation of gun owners in general. The last thing we need is another irresponsible gun owner accidentally shooting someone. News stories like that just give more ammo to the people who would like to ban guns altogether.

What Does Organic Mean?

When you hear the word ‘organic’, what do you think of? Most people will think of fruit and veg, green trees and goodness, because organic means healthy, right? More and more we can find the word ‘organic’ on the front of our cosmetics and food alike, which instantly makes us think of these wonderful ideals and we buy into the product as being ‘natural’. Whilst there is nothing wrong with buying into organic cosmetics I just wanted to write a post with a few truths about this powerful word and to make you question what ‘organic’ actually means…

As a Biochemist the word organic to me means ‘a molecule containing carbon’. This can include both chemicals derived from plants and animals but also man-made chemicals which contain carbon too. For example, the carbon containing chemical called ascorbic acid, also known as Vitamin C, can be found naturally in oranges but can also be produced by man-made processes which result in exactly the same product. These two chemicals are exactly the same; where it comes from makes no difference and both are deemed chemically to be ‘organic’ compounds. The word has taken on a different meaning due to Organic Farming. Organic food products are ones which have been grown without the use of pesticides or herbicides and which have not been genetically modified. It is for these reasons that people connect organic with meaning healthy. The arguments for and against organic farming are lengthy and have been detailed thousands of times before; I’m not here to tell you what to think but please remember that scientists are ordinary people with ordinary lives and families – we are not all in on a conspiracy to kill people through toxic tomatoes! Everything scientists do is to help humanity solve problems that it has gotten itself into, such as an increasing demand for food…

But what about ‘Organic’ cosmetics? Many organic cosmetic companies use ingredients in their products which are completely naturally-derived, that is they have been extracted directly from plants that have been grown using Organic Farming principles. There is no problem with this whatsoever as many active ingredients even in ‘non-organic’ cosmetics are derived from plants – remember the Eperua Bark extract in L’Oreal Skin Perfection Anti-fatigue Perk up cream? However, the thing that makes us scientists rage is the notion that ‘natural’ ingredients are safer and better for you than man-made ingredients – the notion that Organic companies push to sell products through scaremongering. The truth is, there are thousands upon thousands of plants and plant-derived products out there, many of which have amazing beneficial cosmetic uses. However, just because an ingredient comes from a plant DOES NOT make it safe –  thousands and thousands of those plants are poisonous, such that animals in the wild know which plants and berries to avoid. The most famous historic plant poison is Deadly Nightshade or Belladonna from the Atropa Belladonna plant which women would drop into their eyes to dilate the pupils and give a more attractive appearance but it causes increased heart rate and eventually blindness. Maple Holistics is where you need to go to learn everything about the best products out there.

Treating Eczema

The Importance of Getting a Dermatologist and just watching your skin in general

Skin care may have seemed overrated when you grew up. You might have thought at some point what the point of going to a dermatologist is and what the point of the field of dermatology is in the first place. Well I’ll tell you this. If you are asking this question you probably don’t completely understand all the different things dermatologists can do and just how broadly we can use the term skin care.

Fact: Skin care is not just helping you get rid of your acne

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in eighth grade. To me skin care meant one thing. How can I get this acne off my face. As 14 year old male I really don’t want to look like this I mean it is so incredibly humiliating for me. I really have got to clean up and get my act together. So here is what I am going to do. If I’ve got acne oh not my face who am I going to call for the proper skin care treatment I nbaby_skin_care_s6_dermatitis_eczemaeed for this acne epidemic? A dermatologist. This is exactly what I did. I did this and began using prescription acne cream to give my face the proper skin care it needed. However, proper skin care could also help treat serious skin conditions like Eczema. Eczema could lead to serious irritation to the skin and could impair daily functioning if you do not use proper skin care treatment necessary to relieve you of the pain which this skin condition may end up causing you. Additionally for those prone to more dry skin those who use moisturizers help prevent a lot of bleeding which dry skin may cause. This bleeding may cause limited usage of the blood infested area if you constantly have to worry about blood dripping from there when using proper skin treatment to handle dry irritated areas of your skin. Most significantly you need to make sure to use proper skin care treatment when your skin is exposed to the sun. This means using sunscreen with a SPF50 or other recommended rating to provide your skin with the skin care to limit the risks of you contracting skin cancer or some other more serious disease that you honestly want to just go and get rid of right

So there you have it skin care is not just about acne. It is much much more. So, just to review, when we speak about skin care we are talking about a bunch of different ways needed to treat your skin and we gave several different degrees of answers from normal dry skin, to more eczema based dry skin and even for limiting any unfortunate contractions of eczema or any other similar related diseases which in my most humble of opinions, is just something you just want to sing na na nan a na hey hey hey goodbye.

You Have The Right

The Right To Bare Arms is it worth it to carry that pistol around with you?

A big topic of conversation coming up these days is does the right to bare arms mean that we should have less or more gun restrictions in the United States of America2nd-amendmant . People make the argument that they can carry around there pistol because “ I have the right to bare arms” and that they can own it. Personally I don’t know if that is so bad. Where I feel like they are going to far though is when they say it should be super easy for any joe schmo to go into a gun store and say “ Hi I want a pistol” just like they would go to the register at CVS and be like “ Hi I want this pack of gum.” However, based on a history of people taking their pistol or any form of gun to shoot and commit acts of murder and other heinous crimes. With pistols and other fire arms we have had the shooting at Columbine, Virginia Tech and as recently as the Boston Massacre just a few years ago. If this is not a call for more regulated guns in the United States than what is. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying someone in a super dangerous neighborhood like Harlem or Newark shouldn’t get a pistol to defend themselves. No. Honestly they probably need it for safety in order to protect themselves, their family and everyone around them. However, this I believe does not and I repeat mean that there shouldn’t be gun restrictions. It is keeping the gun restrictions strong that will help us in making sure that everyone is properly protected. For those that have guns and those who do not it will, in the end help relieve everyone of the entire situation so they can use their pistol. However, by having stronger gun restrictions we can ensure the safety and security of everyone friends, family etc, when using your pistol or other form of fire arm, rifle, etc. this will help overall protect you and keep you safe. There are also several models of pistols and other firearms which you can use. Some of these firearms etc. may include any of the Glock models including the Glock2ndamendmentgunsafety_opt4_01 17, 19, 30 or the Kel Tect plr 16. Although here I mainly focused on pistols however, there are other weapons like rifles which you need to be extremely careful about. Besides for making sure not everyone just goes and buy pistols. If you have small children it is important to make sure that not just the pistol is on safety lock but is in super important that the pistol is locked preferably in a safe way in order to keep your children and all of those around nice, good and overall a lot safer than you were previously. As emphasized in the past, it is also important for you to make sure that you yes that’s right you are careful to be safe as possible when only you yourself and I handle your pistol.

I Need To Fix My Gas!!!

I have recently made the move to Israel from upstate New York. It seems like everyone I went to camp with or high school with lives here but that is beside the point. This isn’t the first time I am living on my own. The only new thing is that this country is not like America. In the states I rented a one room apartment and not only was the rent half what I pay now it also included appliances. In that apartment I had a stove and oven and refrigerator. I still had to go home now and again to do laundry but in general I had every appliance I needed to live a productive normal life. That all changed when I came to Israel. I settled in Jerusalem, Katamon specifically, and the life lessons were teaching me every day. The apartment I rented had an oven which had a gas stove attached but the gas didn’t work for some reason.

chula-vista-refrigerator-repairWithin the first week of moving to a new country and I was having issues. I had to call a repair man and quick. The nice thing about moving to this country is that there is a huge amount of resources that will help you find whatever it is you need. I used said resources to find a repairman. Appliance repair in this country is interesting because you need to know who you are calling and what they are qualified to do(at Efes Takalot you will get all you need in appliance and home repair in israel). The guy I called was some Israeli dude and within the first 5 minutes he told me in his broken English that he was a air conditioning repair man and doesn’t work with stoves. That didn’t mean the visit was free though and after that experience I learnt to ask as many questions as possible before telling a repair to come over. I found a company that repaired all appliances and they came over the next day. Turns out there was a building that was just built that severed our gas lines and they never fixed them so I was told that my stove was useless. What a bummer!
I bought an electric stove top because that was better than nothing. I should mention that at the same time the only refrigerator they provided was one of those small dorm room style ones. It worked for a while but soon I was in need of something bigger. In Israel you don’t buy new. You see it in the streets with the amount of old cars driving around and the same holds true with home appliances. I went on a second hand online shop and found a fridge for a hundred bucks. It works well and keeps my food cold, who could ask for anything more really… I have loved my experience here in Jerusalem Israel so far but there have been many times I have learnt the hard way about how things work here. You just have to wake up and put a smile on your face and know everything will work out in the end.

The Glock 19 Accessories

In a place called Township Hills, Chicago, Illinois there lived a man named Dan Macintosh. Dan happened to live in one of the more dangerous parts of the neighborhood in inner city Chicago. To protect himself he made a decision that he was going to get a glock 19. While he was getting the glock 19 though he understood that it was also essential to, along with the glock 19 get all of the glock 19’s great accessories.
So Dan journeyed to the gun store to go and buy the glock19 and the glock19 accessories he went to the local gun store within the city. Nobody happened to be there. In turned out that the gun store was going through reservations. This meant he would have to find another place both to buy a glock 19 and glock 19 accessories reviewed by He opened his Iphone and asked Siri. “ Place to find glock 19 gun and glock 19 accessories.” Now this information was a little bit to much of an overload of information for Siri so Siri just redirected him to a different website with all the info he needed. He found an address of a gun store that someone posted on Google Answers seemed to say would have the glock 19 and glock 19 accessories which Dan was searching for. Dan didn’t know what to do though. Should he trust this Google group that he would’ve gotten this address info from? Sometimes this would get Dan what he needed and sometimes it wouldn’t. It was hard to know. So Dan decided better idea to call his friend Phil, a big advocate of having a gun, who had bought his own glock 19 and glock 19 accessories just a few weeks before, for some advice. Dan called Phil. The first time the call dropped. Two minutes later though Phil called Dan back. “ How are you Dan?” asked Phil as soon as Dan picked up. “ Doing great” said Dan. “ I was wondering though Phil” said Dan. “ Ya what is it?” said Phil. “ Do you know of any good stores were I can by a glock 19 and glock 19 accessories my wife and I are getting more nervous about our neighborhood and think it would be a good idea to buy them. I went to the gun store in midtown Detroit and couldn’t find anything.” “ Oh ya” replied Phil. “ There getting repaired right now there’s another one in Northville which should be only about a 20 minute drive from your apartment.” “ Cool” answered Dan. “ I’ll check that out thanks so much Phil that is where I’ll go to buy my glock 19 and glock 19 accessories.” “ No problem all the best” answered Phil. Phil then hang up. As soon as Phil hung up Dan turned on his car (we forgot to tell you he was still sitting in their at the time of the call) he then began to drive on a journey to get his glock19 and glock19 accessories.

Dan made it to the store and bought his glock19 and glock19 accessories to protect his family.

Matrix Biolage Shampoo

Once upon a time there was a boy named George. In need of a new shampoo George went to the local corner drugstore and bought a standard sized bottle of Matrix Biolage Shampoo (reviewed by Maple Holistics) . Now why would George buy this type of shampoo, Matrix Biolage Shampoo, over others is probably the first question most people would be asking about this purchase of George’s and if not I’ll tell you a little bit why. You see George’s hair had often dried out so he needed a shampoo that could properly treat this. A few weeks after this George found a shampoo that could successfully rid his hair of dryness Matrix Biolage and decided this would be his shampoo. Before buying matrix biolage shampoo though George wanted to be extra careful that matrix biolage was really all he could’ve ever dreamed for in a shampoo. So he did a little bit more research on this shampoo the internet being his primary resource (which is most people’s main resource these days for just about anything for all of those in the previous generation still figuring this out). So George looked across the world wide web and found out that Matrix Biolage also made shampoos made with bonus beauty matrix-biolage1benefits for second day oil control and additional fullness for the shampoo too. Now here is another fun fact about George. George was one of these guys, although he wasn’t super hippieish was a big proponent of using more natural products out there. He was amazed to learn that Matrix Biolage shampoos contained an array of some of the most natural oils and other biolageingredients out there. For example Matrix Biolage’s main ingredients include coconut oil, which is able to go deep into your hair and effectively combine with other ingredients in the nourish range to give your hair shine, strength, and a lot of softness. Some of the other more natural ingredients include sunflower seed oil, coconut or palm oil, synthetic man made materials, grapes, palm and rapeseed oil, minerals, soybean oil, coriander seed, kiwi grapefruit, orange blossom pollen, brassica plant, Japanese oak charcoal, quinoa husk, goji berry, mushrooms, fermentative minerals, rice, wheat, yucca, potato starch, olives, and a whole array of other natural ingredients out there. These were what got George going. Three years past and George continued to use Matrix Biolage. Matrix Biolage seemed to accompany him through his various stages of life. When he had initially done the research to see if he should buy Matrix Biolage George had been a junior in highschool and he started using matrix biolage the summer before he started his senior year. After graduated highschool George decided to attend the University of Pennsylvania were he again would use his matrix biolage on a daily basis when we would take a shower following an intramural basketball game at the gym there. After graduating from Penn Matrix Biolage followed George once again to New York City where he started working in Consulting at a small consulting firm in the heart of Manhattan.

George continued to use the shampoo. George could easily be you so try out Matrix Biolage and see if it is for you too!
